Repetitor statement against Pop-Kultur support of apartheid
The band Repetitor has written a powerful message against the Pop-Kultur festival in Berlin, which insists on being sponsored year after year by the criminal apartheid Israeli embassy [disruptions during Pop-Kultur 2018: here, here, here and here; musician Brian Eno on boycotting of Pop-Kultur here].

It is with a heavy heart that we will be taking the stage at Pop-Kultur Festival in Berlin tomorrow.
We only recently learned the scale of Pop-Kultur's ongoing partnership with the Israeli government, which exploits the arts in order to cover up its racist, apartheid policies against the Palestinian people. Indeed, we were shocked to see the logo of the Israeli embassy prominently displayed on the Pop-Kultur website.
We join the calls from Palestinian, Israeli and international artists urging Pop-Kultur Festival to end all ties with the Israeli government until Palestinians can live without oppression or apartheid, in their own state.
Just as it would have been reprehensible for a self-defined progressive festival to partner with or accept any support from the apartheid regime in South Africa in the past, while locals call them not to, it is now wrong for Pop-Kultur to partner with the Israeli government until it fully complies with its obligations under international law and respects Palestinian national rights for an independent state, recognized by the UN.
As a band that takes calls from the oppressed local Palestinian, and even some Israeli community seriously, Repetitor commits to not playing future gigs in Israel or at events sponsored by its government. We don't want to be used in a campaign of normalizing racial segregation and occupation of Palestinian territories.
We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people like they stood and still stand with our own.

Teška srca ćemo izaći na binu na Pop-Kultur Festivalu u Berlinu sutra.
Skoro smo saznali da Pop-Kultur ima trajno partnerstvo sa vladom Izraela, koja zloupotrebljava umetnost ne bi li zataškala aparthejd i rasnu politiku prema palestinskom narodu. Bili smo zatečeni da vidimo grb Izraelske ambasade na sajtu festivala.
Mi se pridružujemo pozivima Palestinaca, Izraelaca, izvođača i umetnika iz celog sveta koji apeluju da Pop-Kultur Festival prekine sve veze sa vladom Izraela sve dok Palestinci ne budu mogli da žive bez progona i aparthejda, u sopstvenoj državi.
Kao što bi bilo za osudu da jedan samoproklamovano progresivni festival napravi partnerstvo ili prihvati bilo kakav vid podrške od vlade Južnoafričke Republike tokom godina aparthejda, dok ga tamošnje stanovništvo moli da to ne radi, tako je sada pogrešno da Pop-Kultur ima partnerstvo sa vladom Izraela, sve dok Izrael ne prihvati svoje obaveze prema međunarodnom pravu i prizna Palestinsku državu, već priznatu u UN-u.
Kao bend koji ozbiljno shvata i koji ne može da se ogluši na pozive celokupne palestinske zajednice, pa čak i delova izraleske, Repetitor ubuduće neće svirati koncerte u Izraelu ili na događajima sponzorisanim od strane vlade Izraela. Ne želimo da budemo upotrebljeni u kampanji normalizacije rasne segregacije i okupacije palestinskih teritorija.
Stojimo u solidarnosti sa palestinskim narodom, kao što su oni stajali i stoje u solidarnosti sa našim.

Mit schwerem Herzen treten wir morgen beim Pop-Kultur Festival in Berlin auf.
Wir haben erst kürzlich erfahren, in welchem Umfang Pop-Kultur weiterhin mit der israelischen Regierung zusammenarbeitet, die Kunst missbraucht, um ihre rassistische Apartheidpolitik gegen die palästinensische Bevölkerung zu vertuschen. Tatsächlich waren wir schockiert, als wir gesehen haben, wie prominent das Logo der israelischen Botschaft auf der Pop-Kultur-Website präsentiert wird.
Wir schließen uns den Aufrufen palästinensischer, israelischer und internationaler Künstler an, die das Pop-Kultur Festival auffordern, alle Verbindungen zur israelischen Regierung zu kappen, bis Palästinenser ohne Unterdrückung oder Apartheid in ihrem eigenen Staat leben können.
So wie es für ein in seinem Selbstverständnis progressives Festival verwerflich gewesen wäre, in der Vergangenheit mit dem Apartheid-Regime in Südafrika zusammenzuarbeiten oder irgendeine Form von Unterstützung von diesem zu akzeptieren, während sie von dem unterdrückten Teil der Bevölkerung gebeten werden, dies nicht zu tun, so ist es jetzt für Pop-Kultur verwerflich, mit der israelische Regierung zu kooperieren. Und zwar solange, bis diese ihren völkerrechtlichen Verpflichtungen vollständig nachkommt und die von den Vereinten Nationen anerkannten nationalen Rechte der Palästinenser für einen unabhängigen Staat achtet.
Als Band, die Anrufe von unterdrückten Palästinensern und sogar einigen israelischen Gruppen ernst nimmt, verpflichtet sich Repetitor dazu, künftig Konzerte in Israel oder im Rahmen von Veranstaltungen, die von der israelischen Regierung gesponsert werden, nicht zu spielen. Wir wollen nicht für eine Kampagne zur Normalisierung der ethnischen Segregation und Besatzung palästinensischer Gebiete missbraucht werden.
Wir stehen solidarisch mit der palästinensischen Bevölkerung, so wie diese mit uns standen und immer noch stehen.

כלהקה המתייחסת ברצינות לקריאות הפלסטינים המקומיים אשר תחת דיכוי, קולות המגיעים אפילו מקהילות ישראליות מסוימות, Repetitor מתחייבת שלא להופיע בהופעות עתידיות בישראל או באירועים הנערכים בחסות ממשלת ישראל. אנו לא מוכנים שיעשו בנו שימוש למען קמפיין המנרמל הפרדה גזעית וכיבוש של שטחים פלסטיניים.
